Day 43 - Lot's of changes...

I took the day off today in order complete the electrical plan in time for the pre-con meeting with the electrician this afternoon. I also wanted to go over some issues/changes with the contractor and was hoping to go over some unfinished business with the HVAC guy who never showed up. In the process of trying to nail down the lighting for the theater it became clear that we were never going to get sconces or columns to balance out properly with the equipment rack in the wall. So I have decided to move the equipment completely inside the media closet. This actually solves three problems: first, it will look much much better now that we can position sconces and columns for proper symmetry; second, it eliminates distracting bright led lights; third, now I don't have to worry about noise from loud equipment such as TiVo's or the media closet vent fan leaking into the theater. So the plan is locate the equipment rack such that as you step into the media closet the equipment is to the immediate right which should still allow full view of the screen while changing DVD's etc. Yeah, well ok, you will need to look over your shoulder and peek through the door...

We also nixed the framing of the nook in the front wall of the theater. What seemed like a neat architectual design really doesn't add much after covering it with a 10 inch soffit and a 110" screen. Plus it would have made it just a little bit more difficult to hang the screen.

And the BIG change for the day was the bathroom. I just can't live with that turd trapeze running through the middle of my porcelain throne room. The shower is going to be moved into the storage room. The wall between the bathroom and hallway is going to be firred out to accomodate the waste pipe which will be relocated to run through the wall to the back of the room where it will 90 into the craft room and run underneath the other pipe already there. Then we are going to fir out that wall into the craft room to hide both pipes. So we end up losing a few inches in the bath and craft rooms but we actually end up gaining space in the bath with the movement of the shower. I never liked the idea of the pooper wedged in the corner between the shower and the sink anyway so I like this design MUCH better. But I don't like the sound of ka-ching. It feels like we are bleeding money at this point.
